Samsung planning ‘brilliant’ new Windows Phones for Europe

It’s fair to say that Samsung’s current Windows Phone offering in Europe isn’t exactly mind-blowing. After its impressive Omnia 7 was released with the first wave of Windows Phone 7 devices in October 2010, the Omnia W was something of a disappointment for many, who saw its similar specs and smaller screen as not being much of an improvement over its predecessor, especially in light of increasingly superlative rival handsets, such as Nokia’s Lumia 800 and the HTC TITAN. Samsung currently offers two devices in the US – the 3.7" Focus Flash (which is essentially the Omnia W in all but ...

In a video interview conducted by Microsoft at CES 2012, Skype's vice president of products Rick Osterloh said that collaboration is still in the works. Perhaps the biggest question for Skype fans concerns when a Skype client will be released for Windows Phone devices. In the interview, Osterloh said that Skype is working on a Windows Phone version but declined to give out a date, saying ...

Even though opponents of the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) won a big victory on Friday when it was announced that the DNS blocking provision would be removed from the bill, it looks like the idea of shutting down web sites to protest the bill is gaining steam. We have already reported that Reddit plans to shut down for 12 hours on Wednesday, January 18 in their own SOPA protest. Now Marcus "Notch" Persson, the creator of the hit PC game Minecraft, has announced via his Twitter page, "We'll silently take down http://minecraft.net and http://mojang.com on the 18th ...
