Facebook Page Performance Art Glitchr Purposefully Tries To Activate Code Glitches

Making the link rounds among designers in Silicon Valley this holiday season is Facebook fan page Glitchr, which tries to mess up Facebook code on purpose. While I had previously postulated that the page might be run by the venerable former Facebooker Evan Priestley, instead it is run by some Greek dude, Laimonas Zakas. Click on any of the links in Glitchr’s posts and they will do anything from bring up random Unicode characters to load a Facebook navigation bar multiple times. Go on, don’t be afraid. So how does he do it? Well, Zakas essentially “paints” with ...

Facebook Timeline Ads Show Your Clean vs. Drug-Addicted Life

In a creative social media campaign, media agency McCann Digital Israel has used the new Facebook Timeline design to advertise for the Israel Anti-Drug Authority. This is a big deal for many developers, because for the past ...

How Did Students From the 1910s Get on Facebook?

There is a glitch in the matrix at the University of Nevada at Reno, where two students from the 1910s have joined Facebook. Joe McDonald‘s profile says that he likes to box, that his favorite musicians include W.C. Handy, Irving Berlin and Scott Joplin. He’s listed as “In a relationship” with Leola Lewis, who, according to her profile, enjoys embroidery and the literary works of Jane Austen and Edgar Allen Poe. Neither mention Angry Birds or Kanye West. The two profiles are actually the creation of Donnelyn Curtis, director of the university’s research collections, reports The Chronicle ...
