‘HTC Zeta’ Renders Appear, Rumored To Be A 2.5GHz Quad-Core, ICS-Powered Beast

A few days ago we were introduced to the Tegra 3-powered HTC Edge, rumored to be one of the first quad-core Android smartphones. Today sees the emergence of renders showing another rumored quad-core HTC phone, the "HTC Zeta". According to Engadget, the Zeta's striking design isn't the only remarkable thing about the device, as it reportedly packs a quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 CPU at a whopping 2.5 GHz. Android Makes Big Gains on iOS in Europe

Android has been the top smartphone platform in the U.S. and the world for more than half a year. Now, it’s experiencing similarly fast growth in Europe. According to comScore’s latest report, which measures smartphone adoption rates in EU5 — France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom — Android has grown an amazing 16.2% between July 2010 and July 2011, which propelled it to second place on the top smartphone platform list. Google to HTC: “We’ve got your back! Android, FTW!”

Google’s executive chairman Eric Schmidt vowed to support Taiwanese device manufacturer HTC in the latter’s legal battle with Apple over alleged violations of Apple-owned patents. Schmidt addressed participants at the Google Mobile Revolution conference held in Tokyo this week. Schmidt, who formerly sat on Apple’s board until 2009, was quoted as vowing continued support for HTC. “We will make sure they don’t lose, then,” he said. The former Google CEO also expressed confidence that Google will be able to persuade the ITC to overturn the ruling made last week by a U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) administrative law judge.
